US Vogue magazine editor, Anna Wintour has defended her decision to feature rapper Kanye West and his reality star finance Kim Kardashian on the cover of the magazine.
This has come after the publication tweeted an image of the power couple for their April cover. The news set Twitter on fire immediatley with many readers and celebrities voicing their opinions on the matter. One actress, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) tweeted that she is cancelling her subscprition in protest and has urged her fans to follow in her footsteps.
The backlash has prompted Wintour to take to the April issue editor’s letter and write, “part of the pleasure of editing Vogue… is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it.”
I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye,”
