This is probably a few days late, but Absa’s idea to turn the South African rugby team jersey (usually a dark green) to red was a smart move in my opinion.
Yes it wasn’t the most original idea, but it certainly got a lot of people talking about the brand. The prank video is the 5th most viewed YouTube video in South Africa with 46 751 views and counting.
The ad aired on 31 March 2014 on national media and confused many sports fans before they realised what it really was. It’s good to know that banks have a sense of humour too, if you know what I mean.
