Air Movie Nights in collaboration with the Fourways Farmers Market welcomed the public to enjoy the screening of Five Fingers for Marseilles at their inaugural edition of Air Movie Nights at the market.
Founded by Filmmaker and Youth Achiever Award recipient at the SAFTAs – Thapelo Mokena, Air Movie Nights has scooped out some of the best rooftop, garden hideaways and inspired locations for viewing films in the great outdoors, bringing them straight to you.
This monthly film series focuses on offering unique cinema watching experiences that are coupled with music, food, drinks, photo booths, popcorn and at most the stars of the films themselves. Gates opened at 18h00 and the movie began at 20h00.
Five Fingers for Marseilles is a western that tells the story of a group of young men (the ‘Five Fingers’) who stand up to brutal police oppression in Marseilles, a town in the rugged badlands of the Eastern Cape. The film has already lit up the global festival circuit and has earned excellent reviews.
“Air Movie Nights catered to all those who seek a chilled and entertaining night out. Fourways Farmers Market is a place for family and friends to come and enjoy a different setting,”’ said Thapelo Mokeana. “It is an all-rounder that accommodates everyone who is game for an amazing movie night under a ceiling of stars.”
Following the screening, a Q&A session with the stars of the movie ensued with Vuyo Dabula, Zethu Dhlomo, Lizwi Vilakazi and Garth Brytenbach. Air Movie Nights offered the audience direct communication with the artists, elevating the experience and making audiences feel better about the film as well as providing a clearer understanding of the intentions behind creating it.
Located opposite Monte Casino, on the original Fourways Farmstead, Fourways Farmers Market boasts an array of vendor stalls, selling carefully selected products that are local, artisanal and delicious! With a choice of seating under the Jacarandas, in the Maypole Ribbon Marquee area, amidst the beautiful plants in the garden whilst listening to the best local music – you’ll be hard pressed to find a more relaxing way to spend a Thursday evening in central Fourways.
